Provided that we offer a bespoke service either opening is available. Outward opening is the most desired option for doors opening into an external area. The outward opening system has 2 main benefits, furniture does not get in the way of opening and closing of doors, and if the weather has been wet the water from the doors won’t drip inside the house when opened.

Outword ir Inward Opening?

Most people base this choice on whichever best suits their space. Doors are designed to be either wholly Open In or Out and there is no key benefit from choosing one over the other. It remains a matter of choice only. There are some minor differences:

Open Inward:

Doors require room space when opening.
Glass Openings, G0-70 open in doors, when fitted with a standard rebated threshold , can be buried into the sub floor. When fitted with a low threshold, there is no up stand, providing level access.

Open Outward:

No internal room space is required.
Glass openings, GO-70  aluminium open out doors, when fitted with a standard threshold ,will have a upstand on the inside. When fitted with an aluminium low threshold, there is no up stand, providing level access.
Open Out doors are 75% of all doors supplied.

Please note that all images above are external views so position yourself so that you are outside looking in. Please choose the option that best suits you and your needs.

Integral Blinds:

Glass Openings’ Integral Blind units are hermetically sealed between the double glazed panels. There are no cords visible as the internal Venetian Blind is magnetically operated. There are 5 colour options to choose from. Integral blinds are maintenance free and are protected from moisture, dust and damage. They come with a 10 year guarantee.

Opting for Integral Blinds will increase lead time to 4-6 weeks. If not stated at the time of order, bifold doors will be delivered to you by Glass Openings and Integral Blind Glass will be delivered by the glass manufacturer. We have found that this is preferred by customers as the lead time is shortened, it also provides builders with the option of fitting the door prior to glass delivery. If you would prefer one complete delivery this is also available upon request.

  • Totally cordless system, our manual units are operated via neat and unobtrusive sliding magnetic blocks located around the perimeter of the unit
  • Venetian with full lifting operation in one slick and easy motion
  • Ideal for public and commercial buildings
  • Available in any size up to 3000mm high and 1200mm wide per pane
  • Child friendly

What is u value?

Both our glass specifications meet building regulations part L requirement. U is a measurement of a U Value. A u value measures the effectiveness of a material as an insulator. The lower the u value is, the better the material is as a heat insulator.
The U Value 1.2 will give you a overall door u value of 1.6W/m2k
The U Value 1.2 will give you a overall door u value of 1.4W/m2k

Is your bifold for an extension?:

All habitable rooms require 5000mm sq. of equivalent air.
If you have no other means of venting your room (i.e. a brick vent, mechanical ventilation or another door or window with a trickle vent fitted) then a trickle vent will need to be fitted to your bi-fold door.
If a trickle vent is required it will be fitted to the top of the first and last door panels.

Is your door a replacement?:

If you are replacing an existing door and not changing the structural width of your opening then building regulations do not apply.
If the door you are replacing has trickle ventilation already fitted, then it is a requirement that a trickle vent is fitted on the replacement bi folding door.
You may choose to have a vent fitted regardless of if being a requirement, to aid background ventilation.

Threshold is effectively the bottom track of the door. We offer the option of weathered/standard and non-weathered/low thresholds. For external bi folding doors we recommend our standard threshold. This consists of a sunken floor track and a small upstand lip that in turn creates a weather tight seal. The low thresholds are flush and have no lip. They ought to be used in internal or sheltered areas.

Our cills are available in 2 sizes 82mm and 150mm. The standard size for a normal brickwork aperture is 150mm, which provides a 50mm ( 2" ) overhang, when the back of the door frame is fitted in line with the back edge of the outside brickwork. The 82mm cill is used when the door frame is fitted forward in the brickwork reveal.
If your installation does not require an external cill, please take into consideration, how rainwater will be taken away from the bottom of the door. For installations where a level transition from the inside to the outside is being created, drainage systems are the ideal solution and are available from your local builders merchants.

What does 'certificated' to PAS 24 actually mean?
? If you are ordering for an extension of an old building you do not require pas 24*

In essence this is your guarantee that the production of the door you are purchasing is being monitored by a UKAS accredited certification body to ensure compliance with PAS 24:2016 Enhanced security performance requirements for door sets and windows in the UK. External door sets and windows intended to offer a level of security suitable for dwellings and other buildings exposed to comparable risk and the specific and the relevant material specific standard for general performance referenced in BS 6375 Parts 1, 2 and 3.

PAS 24, like most British Standards, is a minimum standard. In other words it doesn’t include higher or lower grades for security and so doors that are tested to the specifications of the standard either pass or fail. Although some of the door sets that pass will be a little stronger than the minimum required, a minimum standard encourages engineers to design the door to pass at the minimum requirements. This makes economic and environmental sense and the effectiveness of doors certificated to this standard has proven that the minimum levels set by the British Standards were just about spot on.

Installation Service:

Although our doors are extremely easy to fit we also offer a full installation service, for full peace of mind.
The warranty is one year on labour, plus a standard 10 year parts warranty.
Due to the demand for this service, delivery and installation is 4-6 weeks from date of order

Our slim line aluminium bi folding doors have been priced to suit all budgets and designed to resonate with all tastes.

The immense strength of aluminium facilitates the slim line design of our bi folding doors without comprising on durability, appearance or practicality. Aluminium is lightweight so easily manoeuvred and practically maintenance free. Our aluminium bifolds are manufactured from slim thermally broken profiles to ensure maximum glass widths can be achieved using the minimum number of panels. Glass specification is key when affecting the doors’ thermal performance as glass generally accounts for 80% of the surface area of the doors. Our doors include multiple rigid rubber seals and draught excluders to ensure that you get nothing but sunlight passing through your doors. Our bi-folding door system utilises the latest polyamide thermal barrier technology. This advanced profile technology creates a thermal transmittance barrier between the cold outside and the warm inside. This retains heat, reduces condensation and insulates your property from external noise and weather conditions.

We manufacture and assemble all our products in the UK to guarantee quality, compliance and security. In-house manufacture, state of the art machinery and highly qualified staff ensure that the quality of each door that leaves our factories is nothing short of perfection.
